Your barbershop is building a brand. Why does it live in someone else’s app?
Your own app under your name on the App Store and Google Play. Clients earn points and you can message them directly — without them seeing five competitors along the way.
A barbershop sells an experience and consistency. A booking marketplace sells choice.
A barbershop is one of the few businesses where clients are truly loyal — they don’t come “for a haircut,” they come for a specific person. And that’s exactly the bond a marketplace dissolves.
Clients see you as one option among many
They open the booking app and see a list of nearby shops, ratings, open slots. Your brand is one line among the rest.
You have no way to reach them
The platform owns the communication. You can’t send your own message, your own deal, your own link — and when the platform allows it, it goes out under its name, not yours.
The data isn’t yours
Contacts, visit history, frequency — it all lives in someone else’s system. If you decide to leave, you leave without it.
Three steps, no new equipment
Customers download your app
Your name, your logo, your colors. A standalone app on the App Store and Google Play — not a profile in someone else’s directory.
After the cut, you scan their code
With the phone you already have. It takes a few seconds, no POS or card reader required.
Points and notifications run on their own
Clients see how close they are to a reward. You see who hasn’t been in for a while — and you can message them right on their phone.
Rewards that make sense for a barbershop
The cycle is longer than in food service — clients come in every three to five weeks. So the reward has to have real value, or they won’t reach it fast enough to stay motivated.
The tenth cut free
Clear and valuable. At once a month, that’s a reward after about a year — exactly the horizon you want to keep a client for.
A beard trim with the cut
A smaller mid-cycle reward. It’s also a taste of a service they may never have booked — and some clients start paying for it afterward.
A hair or beard product on the eighth visit
A reward that costs less than a service but feels more valuable. And if they like the product, they keep buying it from you.
“We use Booksy — it has a loyalty program too.”
It does. We won’t pretend otherwise — and if you use Booksy and you’re happy with it, you don’t need us for bookings.
But a loyalty module inside a booking platform and your own app aren’t the same thing, and the difference comes down to three things:
Brand
On Booksy, your loyalty program is a Booksy feature. Clients don’t download your app — they open someone else’s app where you’re one of many shops. Right next to your profile is a competitor with an earlier opening.
Channel
The platform sends push notifications on its own terms. Your own app means your own channel — you send what you want, when you want, with no middleman.
Independence
When the platform raises its fees or changes its terms, you have nowhere to go — your clients, history and communication are all there. Your own app and your own database mean the decision stays yours.
Vernio doesn’t have to replace Booksy. Keep your bookings there and bring loyalty in-house.

Frequently asked questions
Is it really my app, or a shared one?
Yours. Your own name, logo and colors, listed on its own in the App Store and Google Play.
Do I need a new POS or card reader?
No. The phone or tablet you already have is enough.
Do I have to leave Booksy or Fresha?
No. Keep taking bookings wherever you take them now. Vernio handles loyalty and client communication under your brand.
Does it work when each barber has their own clients?
Yes. Points are tied to the shop, but in the admin you see who comes in and how often.
Can I send notifications to just some clients?
Yes — for example, to those who haven’t been in for a while. That’s the most common use, and the one that brings the most people back.
Can I change the rewards myself?
Yes. You set rewards, point values, copy and colors in the admin, without us. Changes show up in the app instantly.
How long until my app is in the store?
Typically 2 to 3 weeks from signing, including 1 to 7 days for App Store and Google Play review.
Who owns my customer data?
You do. We can export your customer database any time, and we never use it for anything else.
